Adding a new barber

To add a barber, open the admin portal and navigate to Stores, then choose your store and find the staff/barbers section (often labelled Manage barbers).

Add the barber’s details and save. Most shops start with a display name and an active status.

Active vs inactive (why it matters)

Use active/inactive to control who appears to customers and who is considered available for routing:

  • Active: appears on booking pages and (optionally) the kiosk preferred-barber list.
  • Inactive: hidden from customer flows and removed from day-to-day routing.

Mark barbers inactive for extended leave, role changes, or when someone has left the shop. This keeps the UI clean and prevents customers selecting unavailable staff.

Barber display names

Display names are what customers see. Keep them short and consistent:

  • Use first name or a clear nickname (e.g., “Sam”, “Mo”, “Jez”).
  • Avoid long titles (“Senior Barber Sam W.”) — it looks messy on kiosks.
  • If two staff share a name, add a clear differentiator (e.g., “Chris (North)”).

Common pitfalls

A barber shows as bookable outside their real hours

Check their weekly availability and any one-off blocks. Barber availability can be shorter than store hours.

A barber is missing from the booking page

Confirm they are marked active and that their schedule includes bookable time.
