What “On Break” does
The On Break toggle tells Cutline you’re temporarily unavailable. When you’re on break:
- New walk-ins won’t be routed to you via the kiosk (unless someone explicitly chooses you, depending on shop rules).
- Your queue remains visible, but the system knows not to treat you as “next available”.
- Wait-time estimates may adjust to reflect fewer active barbers.
How to toggle On Break
- Open the barber console at /barber.
- Find your status control (usually near your name).
- Toggle On Break to enable it.
If you don’t see the break toggle, your store may have it disabled or managed centrally — ask your manager.
When to use it
- Bathroom breaks, short breaks, coffee runs
- Stock / towel reset
- Phone calls you need to take away from the chair
How to come back from break
Toggle On Break off when you’re ready to take customers again. Do this before you sit the next person so the queue routing returns to normal.
Lunch breaks and scheduled blocks
Managers can also set scheduled blocks in the admin portal (like lunch or training). Blocks affect appointments and bookable time. The On Break toggle is more for real-time, on-the-floor availability.
If you’re regularly missing lunch because you forget to switch, ask your manager to set a block in your schedule — it protects your time.
