Appointments: best for certainty
An appointment is a reserved time on a specific barber’s calendar (or the shop’s schedule, depending on setup). If you need a particular barber, you’re on a tight lunch break, or you’re getting a more involved service, booking ahead is the safest option.
When to book
- You need a specific time (before work, before an event, etc.).
- You want a specific barber.
- You prefer predictable wait times.
Walk-ins: best for flexibility
A walk-in is a ticket in the live queue. You check in at the kiosk, pick a service, and you’ll be served when your turn comes up. Walk-ins are great when you’re flexible and happy to wait based on how busy the shop is.
When to walk in
- You’re nearby and can wait.
- You don’t mind which barber is available next.
- You want the earliest possible service, even if it’s not at a specific time.
Which one gets priority?
Generally, appointments are time-based. That means if you’ve booked a 2:30pm appointment, the shop will aim to start around that time. Walk-ins are served in queue order around those fixed appointment times.
In practice, this looks like: barbers work through walk-ins, then pause to take the next appointment when it’s due, then continue the queue. This keeps things fair while still respecting the people who planned ahead.
Can you book same-day?
Often yes — if there are open slots. Same-day availability depends on store hours, barber schedules, and any blocks (like lunch or training). If the booking page shows a slot, it’s available.
What if you have an appointment but arrive early?
Feel free to arrive a little early and let staff know. You may still wait until your slot, but arriving early makes check-in smoother. Some shops can start you earlier if there’s a gap.
