How appointments appear
Appointments are tied to a specific time slot on the calendar. In the barber console, they may appear:
- in your queue list with an appointment badge,
- in a “Upcoming” section, or
- mixed with walk-ins, ordered around the appointment time.
The key difference is that appointments are time-based. The system is trying to honour those start times while still moving the walk-in line.
Checking in an appointment
Shops handle check-in differently:
- Manager/admin check-in: staff confirm the customer has arrived and add them to the live queue.
- Walk-in style: the customer arrives early and is added like a normal ticket.
If you’re expecting a booking but don’t see them, ask the manager to check the calendar or confirm they’re checked in.
Booked appointment vs walk-in ticket
Booked appointment
- Has a scheduled start time
- Usually assigned to a specific barber
- Should be prioritised around the booking time
Walk-in
- First-come, first-served (within the live queue)
- May be routed to “next available” barber
- Wait time changes with shop activity
What to do if an appointment is late
Follow your shop’s policy. A common approach is a short grace period, then the booking may be treated as a walk-in or marked no-show. The most important thing is to communicate clearly so the queue remains fair.
