Where you’ll see your status
Depending on the shop’s setup, you may see your queue status on the kiosk confirmation screen, a waiting-room display, or a link shared by staff. Cutline keeps the queue live so the number you see reflects what’s happening on the floor.
Your position in the queue
Position is typically shown as “You’re #4” or “4th in line”. This number can move quickly when barbers finish a service, and it can occasionally move backwards if an appointment checks in and is scheduled ahead.
If you selected a preferred barber during walk-in check-in, your position is in that barber’s queue. If you didn’t select anyone, your ticket may be assigned to the next available barber.
Understanding estimated wait time
Wait time is an estimate based on what’s ahead of you and the typical duration of each service. It will adjust during the day as reality changes.
Why the estimate changes
- Service length varies. A detailed fade can take longer than an easy tidy-up.
- Barbers go on break. When a barber is on break, new customers won’t be routed to them.
- No-shows are cleared. When someone doesn’t arrive, the queue can move faster.
- Appointments arrive. Appointments are time-based and can affect ordering around those times.
Status meanings: Waiting, In Service, Done
Waiting
You’re in the queue and haven’t been called yet. Keep an eye on the estimate and be close by as you get nearer to the top.
In Service
Your barber has started your service and you’re in the chair. Your ticket won’t be called again because it’s already being handled.
Done
Your service has been completed and the ticket is closed. If you see Done but you haven’t been served, speak to staff — it may have been tapped accidentally.
Tips to reduce surprises
- If you need a specific barber, book an appointment or select them at the kiosk.
- Arrive a few minutes early if you have an appointment, so check-in is smooth.
- If you’re stepping out, keep an eye on your position and return before you’re next.
